EPF Balance Passbook - UAN Member Portal Down Alternatives

Lately EPFO operated unified portal epf has faced lot of technical problems and remained down for most of the time. This has led to lot of bad press for the EPFO and digital initiatives launched by Indian Government. EPF remains one of the most important contributory social security scheme in India and its more than 5 crore members wants an easy way to check their balance and get online passbook showing the contributions received by EPFO.

EPF Online passbook is even more important as we have seen large number of cases where employer deducts the amount from employee salary, but never deposits the amount to EPFO accounts. Members usually never gets to know this until 10-15 years down the line and at that moment, there is no easy way to track the contributions.

New EPF Balance Passbook Facility Portal (112 133 230 9098 member passbook loginservlet)

This month, EPFO has launched a temporary service at 112.133.230.60:9098/MemberPassBook/Login.jsp (also called 112 133 230 9098 member passbook loginservlet) to get epf member passbook.

You can find this service at EPF Passbook Facility Portal.

One can login to this using your UAN number and password (same as used for login to UAN member portal) and apply for EPF Passbook. It will usually take around 24 hours for your passbook to be made available.

Though as of Mar 29, 2017, this service is also down. It is really a pathetic response by EPFO and they have been more or less down now for 4-5 months. It should not be difficult to provide a basic passbook facility to its members. EPFO has made lot of changes starting with UAN number, but these changes remain useless without a simple and working solution for providing basic online services to epf members.

Alternate options to check your passbook

Though there are some other alternate methods which are still working. Here you can't get full entry passbook but you can atleast check your epf balance. These rely on either sms or missed call or mobile app.
